The Love of My Life

My little Hubert (now 18th mo. 13 lbs!) went to the vet to get...neutered today. I never realized how attached I was to him until we came home from dropping him off and I started crying. Seriously, it's not even close to that time. I think I'm getting a small taste of motherhood. Realizing that my little puppy would be gone for the entire day, I thought, "Wow, I'm going to have so much time to get things done!" and I also thought, "Ugh, I'm going to have so much time; I don't have a cute little puppy to play with all day."

I was semi-productive; I shipped a hip pocket and finished and shipped a custom hip pocket. And by the end of it I went to Hubert's spot to play with him and realized he wasn't there. So I just spent the rest of the morning watching Eureka (great show, btw) to pass the time.

In the meantime, prior to the surgery, I was photographing some clothing for the new shop and Hubert decided to visit the little photoshoot. I'll leave you with pictures of the puppy. ;)

One of a Kind Clothing

I've been delving into my other hobby of making recycled clothing (a hobby that precedes the bags and purses) while waiting on some purse hardware to arrive. This is how the new shop was born, specializing in one-of-a-kind, recycled clothing. Here's a preview of one of the pieces, a military inspired turtle neck with epaulets made from a silk tie and metal buttons.

Messenger w/ Adjustable Strap!

Just in time for back-to-school! Ok, maybe it's not that exciting that school will be starting soon, but this messenger is a great accessory to keep your laptop and books!

It's made of oxford blue cotton and lined with blue striped cotton. Lots of pockets for those who like to compartmentalize. It also makes a great diaper bag that'll keep you in fashion. You'll love the adjustable strap which ranges from 35" to 62". Quite the range, yes? Buttons with two jean buttons, so open and close this baby as many times as you want and the button will remain intact.

I think you'll like this one. :)

Hip Pocket

Oh, I just love this one. I have finally replaced my gigantic ruched bottom bag with the plaid hip pocket. Yep, the first one I made, I kept, and made a more sturdy one to sell. Hey, it was a practice run. It is made of plaid dupioni silk --which has a wonderfully soft, yet nubby texture, and it's lined with cotton twill and interfaced with heavy cotton canvas. It'll surely keep it's shape no matter what you put in it.

I hope you'll love this, too! :)

For men, too!

Ruched Bottom

I made this bag sometime in late April and loved it so much that I kept it and used it as my summer bag. Haven't switched purses since (and I have quite a collection, believe me). As I've been telling my friends and family that I'm taking the summer to design and sell purses, they always say, "Wow! Is that one of them?". Well, now's your opportunity to get this caravan bag. It's large and holds a lot. It keeps my laptop, puppy supplies, wallet, extra pair of flip flops, notebooks, my Yoga/Pilates music case, and 2 bottles of water (one for the puppy, one for me). Super durable for the working lady! Plus, my Vitamin Water bottle fits perfectly in one of the pockets for easy access!

It's finally here, friends, the ruched bottom caravan bag. Also comes in sand and brown upon request!

Etsy Collaboration

Etsy is not just a place for entrepreneurs to dip their feet into selling handmade products and supplies, but a great way to meet new friends. Lori of Risky Beads, a past customer of mine, loved my sample mini tote that came with her purchase that she asked to collaborate on creating a pouch to store a brand new item coming to her store! How great that a little sample could open a door to meet a new friend, a new partner, and an opportunity to help someone house their little product.

This has definitely changed my thoughts on my business --I think that great success can come from great partnerships and creating new networks.
