Hip Pocket Design Competition

I drew this in class. ;)

Details of Contest

OBJECTIVE
Design a kick ass hip pocket for my shop. Stylize it, redo it, accessorize it, paint on it, wreck it.
  • If you're a painter, paint on it.
  • If you screen print, print on it.
  • If you sell purse/belt accessories, deck this baby with your hardware, fill it with buckles and straps, and I'll use your hardware on the new design.
  • If you design plushes, make this hip pocket into a cute little stuffed animal.
  • If you sell fabric, well, you know what to do.
Do what you want. Be creative. No limits!

  • Your winning HP sold in the shop with your name on the tag
  • $50 gift certificate to jennyndesign

TOOLS TO USE
Design your hip pocket in Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD, Rhino, a notepad, a napkin, your hand, your foot, a collage, a billboard, or tattoo it on you. Don't care. As long as you submit the image(s) to me in .jpg, to whatever size your e-mail can hold.

4. Don't bother sewing a hip pocket to make it, use an image from my shop and edit it as you wish.

A Gift for the Man

Needing something for the man? Try this new promotional pack at the shop!

The Man Pack is the perfect gift for your man (or yourself!). A perfect pouch that comes with a super soft matching cowl that has a button that easily slips through the stitches for many wearing configurations.

Clip this pouch in his briefcase filled with his necessities (and a love note) and button this man-cowl around his neck to match his wool coat and send him off to work!

The pouch is made from woolblend pinstriped suiting and is lined in silky smooth black polysatin. It's reinforced with heavy duty canvas, so it's super strong and sturdy. Just like him. ;)

Comes in other colors, fabrics, with matching cowls. Just ask for more options!

A typical conversation with myself.

Oh, boy. These are a must-have pair of kicks.

Arguments Against:
1. I need to save money.
2. I have too many shoes.

Arguments For:
1. I can still pay my bills post-purchase.
2. I can never have too many shoes.
3. They are hot.

For wins. Done and done.

Note to self: Never reason with yourself. Victory and defeat all in one sitting.

Dare you see more.

**Update: I used a coupon code that gave me 25% off! That is what justified to myself that it was a worthy purchase. ;) code: luckybreaks8. So if this makes you more impulsive to get yourself these hot kicks, I'm sorry!! Still love me.

Hip Pocket Mini!

I had a custom request to create the super soft pouch into a mini hip pocket cell phone case. I thought it was just so adorable that I had to photograph it.

Made of super soft brown leather and lined with lustrously golden and wonderfully nubby 100% dupioni silk (one of my favorite fabrics by far).

Hip Pocket Mini
The perks of promoting custom orders. Customers who request custom orders always have really great ideas that I can offer to the shop. So look for these minis in the next fall line coming in December! Along with these, you'll see lots of leather, more corduroy, and some new designs and more hardware on all the bags. Get excited!

I got my hair cut!

My first time at a salon. Ever. My mom usually cuts my hair. I decided I needed a haircut and style badly since I haven't been able to come home for a trim. So I went to ULTA (thanks for the recommendation, Rachael!). I think it was a success! Malessa is amazing (if you go, ask for her)! I can't believe I let my hair look like that for so long.

I took before and afters. And I used that typical advertising technique to show the dramatic contrast! Enjoy!

Tara Donovan is amazing

One of her newest pieces in the ICA in Boston.

Tara Donovan creates amazing sculptures from materials like pencils, straws, metal strips, toothpicks, etc. She tediously assembles them into large-scale cellular-like pieces unlike any artist I've seen. It's just simply breathtaking to see her pieces. I've been able to see one of her pieces at the MET in NY.

I think this is a really amazing piece, but on the other hand it also seems wasteful. But it's so awesome, I almost don't care. Is that bad?

Moreover, I wonder how the cleaning crew will deal with this one. Can you imagine all the dust and junk that will accumulate in those?
