Hubert, The Silly Pug

I have this little dude that keeps me entertained all day. His name is Hubert. Some of you have heard of him from my earlier posts, but I'd like to formally introduce him to the new readers. :)

Hubert is a one-year-old Pug who is my little companion. Although he loves The Boy much more than he loves me (rather, he considers him his playmate, while I'm the disciplinarian), this little guy brings so much joy to my life. And he definitely brings lots of love to all close to him. And he's got extra perks!

He loves chewing his raw hide under your chair while you sew. Look at that little Pug butt!

And enjoys pillow talk. The Boy and Hubert having intimate conversation in bed.

And peaks out the window to bark at literally everything that passes by.
How much is that doggy in the window?

So cute. :)

Burnt Orange Plaid Wool

**Edited 10/2: There's only ONE left. Those went fast!

Oh, I love this fabric. I purchased this last year when I first opened my shop, and found it as I was unpacking all my winter boxes. It was a feature on an Etsy Finds e-mail for a Weekend Deal and they sold out the first HOUR! I was happy, but sad because I had some inquiries about more of them after they sold out.

Well, I finally found a very very very small amount of this fabric, enough for exactly five Travelers. I redesigned the look of this one to incorporate some beautiful brown corduroy. I really LOVE the look of mixing different fabrics during the winter, especially corduroy and wools (as you can see from one of my sales from around this time last year) because it brings lots of interest and personality to the piece. Plus, it looks sort of vintage, right? Sherlock Holmes-y, I'd say.

So here they are. Only four more left. A perfect match with your tan winter trench coat.

p.s. That's a mini handmade vintage bench I got at the thrift store. Could you imagine a Traveler the size of a full-size bench?! Insane.

Whimsy&Spice

Ohhh, my order of treats from Whimsy&Spice came in today!!!

These are delicious! I already ate two marshmallows and a cookie. I'm not sure I want to share them with The Boy and The Bro. Desserts make me selfish. I don't know what gets into me.

But then they'll wonder why the smell of fresh baked goods is coming from my room...and why all of a sudden I've gained five pounds.

Fortunately, neither of them read my blog, so maybe I can get away with it. :)

Whimsy&Spice

And of course, I'm a sucker for beautiful packaging, so I had to photograph the goods when they came in. :) So safely packaged, I almost didn't want to open them. Almost. Like I said, I already ate three treats; the brownies are my after-dinner dessert! :)

Friday Picks: Winter on my Mind

Every-so-often (like, every Thursday), The Boy and I head to our favorite cupcake place in Austin (the only one?), Hey Cupcake! The biggest, richest cupcakes you'll ever have. This time around we bought four! Why? Who knows. This isn't great for my weight loss plan...

Hey Cupcake!
24 Carrot and Red Velvet. The Boy stuck his finger in the icing on one of the 24 Carrot cakes!

As I was looking at our quarter-empty box, I was reminded me of a pretty winter wonderland and decided to make a treasury accordingly. Is it too early to think about winter?

Every Bag Has Its Silver Lining

New fabric added to the shop! Silver Cotton Chino --a light-gray twilled fabric that is tough (usually used for trousers and military uniforms). Its immediate use will be lining your wonderful bags so that they stay strong even when packed with keys, toys, and things. :) But it's great for bag exteriors, too!

Now I'll go edit all the listings where you can customize your bag...

Red Travelers, The Fall Harvest

I'm writing this entry with a runny nose, sore throat, and sipping on some miso noodle soup I made (really, with this new diet I've been on, I'll be fitting in my skinny jeans in no time!).

I spent most of my weekend sleeping trying to get better, but in the meantime, I managed to make five Travelers in Red Microsuede, which I shipped out this afternoon thanks to The Boy who lugged me to the Post Office on his lunch break. :)

This batch reminded me of a super sweet batch of late harvest grapes, perfect for super sweet red wine, so I photographed it with my new vintage crate that I bought from BuyGollyMissMolly. Almost like berry-picking, huh?

Traveling Travelers

Well, I haven't had time to do much of anything except cut, pin, sew, hammer, package, and ship. Here's a little peek at what just shipped out this morning! :) All the Travelers ordered last Friday. Can you find yours?

Started out as piles of cut fabric and ended up in yellow bubble mailers.

Seafoam and Sunshine

I made a treasury recently called "Seafoam and Sunshine" featuring lots of pretty finds on Etsy.

Treasury: Seaform and Sunshine

I loved these colors together so much that I decided to photograph a custom order of a Baby Ruche Bag featuring these two colors.

Baby Ruche in Vintage Mint
I was asked to make the Baby Ruche with a wider top (much like an over-sized Clutch), and I think the result was quite nice!

I'm changing all the straps of the larger bags to a skinnier strap so that they stay on nicely when worn upon large winter coats. Plus, I think it looks pretty chic that way. What do you think?

Introducing: The Tote

I've combined the Briefcase and the Diaper Bag (a Winter 2008 design that was short-lived) into one bag and have lovingly named it The Tote.

It's really chic and super-functional. Comes in all the fabrics available in the shop, just ask for a custom order! I'll be making more of these in the coming weeks (after I make the messenger...heh..oops).

This is a fauxloroid made by Rollip. Neat, huh?

Around the World

I've been meaning to map out the places I've shipped my bags. And now it's done. The next thing I'd like to do is have pictures of Jenny N. Design bags taken at popular sites all around the world! I'll give a special gift to those who send some awesome pictures. :) :)

You can make one, too! I made this map using Google Maps under "My Maps". You can make your own and publish it on your website! Post a link to your map (or to your blog about it) in the COMMENTS, I'd love to see your map!

Fabric Reorganization

My fabric shelf was looking a bit messy (quite the understatement, really) so I started refolding all my leathers. As I finished I thought, "Wow, what a difference, I need to document the before and after". I snapped these pics with my iPhone using a Holga-like effect. So there we go. I'm all reorganized and ready to tackle the 21 bags that were ordered (custom, made to order, and wholesale) in the past two days.

I guess everyone really wanted to see my new business cards, huh? ;)

Happy September!

It's the beginning of a new month, and I have to say that Etsy treated me very well in August. I made many sales thanks to many Front Pages (thanks Etsy Admin and all you wonderful curators!) and many recommendations from happy customers. :)

I started this morning with three Front Page appearances (whoa!), all curated by Etsy. You can find screenshots here, here, and here.

Moreover, with the new month, comes some new designs. Last month, I released The Traveler.

This month I will be releasing a messenger. I know, I know. I keep saying it, but now I actually have to design one. I've had a request from one of my dear friends in medical school requesting a stylish bag for her laptop and a folder, and The Boy and The Bro just purchased laptops and need a carrying case... And they make it evident... everyday.

Okay, okay, I'm on it!

Also, I've made a slight change to the clutch. I took a short weekend trip to Pittsburgh to visit The Boy's family (for his mom's 50th birthday), and decided that I should start wearing nicer bags to represent my brand. I usually keep the messed up ones -- the ones with weird stitching, have puckers in weird places, or look discombobulated... I'm not perfect, I can't stitch these babies perfectly every time! Someone has to use the rejects.

Clutch in Plum

Thus, I made myself a Clutch in Plum leather. It's darling. I love it. I made it slightly taller on top and I really love the new shape. I think I should add an adjustable strap to this baby and give it even more versatility! Like wear it as a snug messenger, or just wear it long on one shoulder and let it fall past the hip. Hey, it can even be a zip-top fanny pack. Let me know what you think! I always love some great feedback!

And finally, my new business cards came in today! I ordered my last batch from MOO, but Steppie directed me to OvernightPrints because I am on a really really tight budget crunch, so these worked out really well! Thanks Steppie!

New business cards! Hooray!

I used the same design I did with my Moo cards by taking five of my favorite product pictures (at the time, now I wish I made the Clutch in Vintage Mint before I ordered the cards...next time) and used those as the front, and the back just has the web address for my shop. I don't usually give out business cards, so I use these as Thank You notes attached to the bag.

Makes you wanna buy a bag so you can get one of these, eh? ;)
